Toenail separated from nail bed?

While moving furniture this weekend my father slammed a dresser into my big toe and the toenail is seperated from the nail bed to at least the mid-point. (OUCH!) It bled a little at first, but now a clear liquid is seeping out. It's not milky, so I don't think it's infected; I've been putting peroxide on it since it occured. What do I do now? Should I just leave it alone, and the nail will eventually grow back? Do I have to have the nail removed? Is the clear liquid seeping out normal? Thanks in advance!Toenail separated from nail bed?
Hey.. g i jst recovered from the same problem.had a soccer game and i hurt my toe...Well, what i did, was applying anticeptic creams and all that, and remember one thing that during the process , dont ever let ur toe get exposed to water..(Through experience..its hurts really bad)..Dont listen to the crap of others where they say water has no harm on it.

U just have to leave it and ur nail will grow back..Try puttingbandages around it, if its too nasty.. thats what i did...

Good luck. peace outToenail separated from nail bed?
I think this guy might be smoking crack. Don't avoid water or even a epson salt solution because, and I quote, ';its hurts really bad';. It doesn't hurt that bad, and the good you're doing to prevent infections and possibliy fungus far out-weighs this minor discomfort.

Get some Epson salt and soak your foot with it in your bucket. I believe that toenail is going to have to come off. This will make it easier and help with any infection.
this happened to me too once nothing bad really happened just my toe go bruised, the nail came off, and a new one grew in its place and its even harder
you should probably see a doctor. Although it might not look infected, hes still the best person to tell you what to do.
OUCH !!!!

This happened to me. It shouldn`t be infected, but i would put a plaster on it and leave it alone. The nail will come off but it will take quite some time - i`m talking weeks. Don`t ever pull the plaster off, even when it looks grubby, let it come off on it`s own. It`s all the messing around and tugging about people do when this happens that causes infections. When you get chance in the evening, sit with your foot in a bowl of nice hot water and salt - that will help a lot - even if the plaster is still on. The plaster will stop it from catching on things when it comes loose at the sides - which it will soon - and keep germs out. When the plaster falls off, put a clean one on.

BET THAT HURT !

Water won`t do any harm and don`t let any doctor pull it off - it is agony - and there is just no need.
You need to see a doctor because an infection can occur. Most likely they will remove the nail and clean it out. They may even put you on an antibiotic. My five year old daughter just lost a nail and was put on medication to avoid infection. It can become serious, so please see a doctor ASAP.
OUCH. You should be okay, but a trip to the doctor or podiatrist might be a good idea. The podiatrist could remove the dead part of the nail and bandage it to prevent infection.

Good luck and again...OUCH
