I have said it before, and I will say it again now.
For those people who have gotten their nails done, and found them to be painful, or 'ruined': Its not from the products in most cases. It is a bad tech that ruins your nails and causes you pain.
And if this is the case, then more often than not you patronized a 'discount' salon. Thus, you got what you paid for - cheap nails. Cheap buys cheap.
A discount salon - loosely defined, is a salon that charges about $25 or less for a full set. They will always use the very cheapest quality nail porducts that they can get, typically MMA. This is some BAD stuff. Doubt me? Watch this video:

In order to save time, and money, these places will cut every corner possible, and that can, and often does, result in a serious haelth risk to you - the consumer. Here are a few more videos to check out for more info on that:

If this doesn't change your mind about discount salons, then I don't know what will.
I honestly cannot understand why it is that so many people have gone to these salons in the first place - and still do. But, as most of you who have been to one have already found out:
They will ruin your nails more often than not, and they will cause you a lot of pain in doing so.
Avoid going to them.
And that was my answer to your question. My guess is that you went to a discount salon, and that is why your nails were ruined. If you want an experienced, and thoroughly trained tech to work on your nails using nothing but the highest quality products on your nails, then check out this 'salon locator.' It will help you to find one. None of the salons listed here are discount salons, and you will end up with much nicer, pain-free nails. Check it out for one in your area:

when you say again, it sounds like you have had a bad experience with it. when done properly, nail enhancements shouldn't ruin your nail bed at all. ofcourse they will be chemically treated, but not hopeless. when you go to get your nails done, do you go to an inexpensive shop on every corner? then you get what you are paying for. if you consider your health and want a quality job, look for a reputable shop and ask more questions. ask what products they use. can you have a conversation with her. in the application, they should only lightly buff the nail enough to remove any oils and shine from surface. so not ground down. gels are a great alternative to acrylics. i wear them. you can keep them clear so they are just an added support. good luck.Whats the best nail extentions to have, i dont want to ruin my nail bed again?
I'd say steer clear of acrylics then, everytime I have mine done they sand them down to nothing. Have you tried gel extensions? They might be better
ask them to use tammy taylor acrylic, or try a gel wrap. when I get a full set i usually soak them off after 2 fill ins. if u get them done and they start lifting to early and tear off your nail then they might not be doing the proper technique or using quality products.
I've had gel %26amp; acrylic %26amp; both times my nail beds were ruined. I've given up wearing them now, I just keep mine at a reasonable length %26amp; use lots of handcream to keep them in good nick.
