Why wont my nail attach to the nail bed?

Over a year ago now i found my nail had split one day, one part fell off, the other was still firmly attached to the nail bed.





since then every time my nail grows back to normal it splits again (or is already split and i only notice when it catches on something) and the same section is still not attached.





I've read that a nail should grow back attached so why isn't mine?Why wont my nail attach to the nail bed?
thats kind of weird, you should see your doctor. try keeping it together, put a band-aid over it so it does not get caught onto anything....
