I have bitten my nails for years, and recently got a herbst appliance, so now I can't. My nails are growing back and are just as strong as before I started biting them. Rubbing lotion on your nails helps with peeling, but that goes for everyone, even people who haven't bitten their nails.

Does the nail bed grow back after having bitten your nails for years?
I can't find a lot of information on this on the internet, but I was wondering if there is anyone with personal experience on this issue. I have bitten and picked at my nails since I was a kid, and now in my thirties I have finally stopped once and for all. My nails have some growth which looks nice, ending right at the tips of my fingers, but I was wondering how long, if ever, the nail bed itself will actually start to lengthen allowing for more growth without my nails peeling or breaking off?Does the nail bed grow back after having bitten your nails for years?
